Our Stay At The Cape Milner Hotel { + WIN!! }

The Cape Milner Hotel ReviewThis weekend my husband and I celebrated our 4-year wedding anniversary… and all we wanted was some sleep! I have been tired since 2011 – with a full time job, mom guilt eating my soul, the blog, our recent trip to the E.R and everything else life has been throwing at us this year… we were just exhausted. I was just about to give up when we received an invitation to stay at The Cape Milner Hotel

CaptureAnyway, let me tell you about this magical place. You will find the hotel cradled beneath the picturesque Table Mountain in Cape Town’s trendy suburb of Tamboerskloof – walking distance from some of the most amazing little restaurants and shops. The Cape Milner Hotel was voted as one of the country’s best boutique hotels by popular local magazine, House and Leisure, and it is not hard to see why. From the sophisticated elegance of the reception area to the plush decor in the bedrooms – the minute you enter, you feel at home. Sure, there are no toys lying around, or crayon drawings on the wall… and a little person does not start screaming every time you sit down or reach any level of comfort – but it is warm and inviting.

The rooms are large, the bed unbelievably comfortable, the decor exquisite and the television freakin’ rotates! You can watch television from anywhere in the room – the lounge, the bath, the bed – I mean, really… what more do you need? My personal highlight of the room was the massive bath tub… and when I saw it all I wanted was a long, hot bubble bath with a glass of the champagne that was waiting for us upon arrival.

Each room enjoys spectacular views of the beautiful Cape mountains, including that of the renowned Table Mountain, and offers en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, Wifi, complimentary tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, mini safe and LCD flat screens with DSTV. Guests also have the added advantage of 24 hour room service. The staff were incredible, from the porter who met us in the undercover parking, to the lovely people at reception, to housekeeping and bartenders – no request was to big and we were always met with a warm smile. I have to give special mention to Mel, the head of housekeeping, who really went the extra mile to accommodate us.

The second option is 2 on Milner which is situated just off the Glass Lounge and is a more formal dining area serving breakfast and dinner.

They were kind enough to serve breakfast in our bedroom – beautifully arranged fresh fruit, baked pastries, cheese, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns and big glasses filled with fresh orange juice.
