A Visit To PE, Some Awesome Cadbury News & A Tasty Competition

A few months ago I got the most exciting invitation in the history of this blog. The Cadbury team invited me to visit the Mondelez factory in Port Elizabeth – it was the first time the factory was open to the media in years and we had no idea what to expect. All we knew was that there would be a big announcement – and it was not a disappointing one.

I have not been to PE since I was a child, and I finally understand why it is called the Windy City! It was lovely though, and I really hope to return with my family soon. We stayed at the Sun International Boardwalk Hotel – and as always, it was lovely. Every time I returnedΒ to my hotel room, the Cadbury team had left more chocolates in my room – needless to say, I love them like family now.

On the first evening we headed to a local Italian Restaurant, Remo’s, where we were welcomed with Gin & Tonic cocktails – I mean really, it’s like they know the inner workings of my heart! What is better than two days filled with chocolate and gin?? This is where they blew our minds with the incredible announcement… 4 limited edition slabs. Not just any slabs – slabs of your favourite chocolate bars!

We were also introduced to the four NEW Martians that have touched down on earth, bringing with them the tastiest limited edition Cadbury slabs, four new collectible Martian figurines PLUS exciting augmented reality experiences to enjoy.

The Cadbury Martians app is now live! Download it now on Google Play or App Store to immerse yourself in this exciting Augmented Reality (AR) experience, enjoyed exclusively through its chocolate wrappers. Simply grab one, two or even all four of the new slabs, download the free app, scan the wrapper and be amazed as the Martians come to life, showing off their moves and even interacting with each other.

The new Facebook stories is also live, where you can turn yourself into a Martian! See website link below:

With these limited edition flavours and the chance to collect four NEW Martian figurines there won’t be a dull moment this winter and South Africans are invited to share in the Joy.

To get your hands on these cute Martians, you will need to purchase any of the participating Cadbury slabs from 1 June to 31 August 2018 at retail stores countrywide.

Choose from 80gm or 150gm Cadbury Dairy Milk slabs with on-pack promotional visuals OR any of the four new limited edition 150gm Cadbury slabs. Find a promotional sticker inside each pack. Then, collect four stickers and stick them on the promotional pamphlet found on the branded displays in participating stores. Finally, redeem a Martian figurine at any participating petrol station store using your completed pamphlet.

There are four new Martian figurines to collect and the promotion is valid while stocks last.

During July and August, Cadbury fansΒ in Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town,Β will get the chance to face off against the MartiansΒ in the ultimate dance battleΒ at theΒ Cadbury Martians Dance-Galactic activations.Β To participate bring any Cadbury slab to the activation for entry. Get all the moves right and you might even see your name climb up the leaderboard to be crowned the top scorer of the day and win an awesome Cadbury Martian hamper –Β  it is the ultimate dance-off!

The next morning we visited the Mondelez factory and actually got to watch them make the last of the limited edition slabs to ship out. It was incredible… It is truly an experience I will carry with me for a lifetime. To see first-hand how all our favourite chocolates are created was amazing, everything that goes into it and the amazing people behind it.

The most exciting part? They allowed us to create our very own chocolates! Mine was brilliant, but financially it would have completely tanked. It was pretty much 90% whole nut (instead of 10% per standard), covered in some Cadbury chocolate with biscuits for extra crunch and a sprinkle of mint. They really need to bring out a mint whole nut version… and if they do, remember that it was my genius.

Guys… I got to make a Caffeine and Fairydust slab chocolate today and it is PERFECTION. An insane amount of wholenuts, a hint of mint, some biscuits and the @cadbury_sa secret recipe chocolate… It now has to go for testing, and if it passes we should have it soon! So amped. This has been an incredible experience…we couldn't take photo's inside the factory, and even though it was not quite like Willy Wonka, it was still pretty amazing. I will make a special announcement in the morning.. At the airport now, can't wait to get home to my babies 😍 . . #chocolate #JoyOfANewKind #cadbury #choclatelab

A huge thank you to FlySafair for getting me there and back safe and sound. Thank you to Sun International Boardwalk Hotel for a lovely stay. Thank you to the Mondelez employees for being so wonderful and the Cadbury team for having me. A very special thank you to the Plato Communications team… you guys worked incredibly hard and you pulled off an absolutely seamless event. It was honestly the best, most informative, productive and memorable media event I have ever attended and I cannot wait to work with you all again. I especially want to thank Pearl and Keneiloe… the two rock stars that made sure I had everything I needed at all times and who was always available with a warm smile and more chocolate (and wine).
