• GIVEAWAY • Win A Limited Edition Pandora Disney Mickey’s 90th Anniversary Pendant Charm Worth R1999!

In case you have not noticed, Mickey Mouse celebrated his 90th birthday this past Sunday (November 18th). Everyone jumped at the chance to honor this beloved little rodent, the world practically came to a halt to congratulate him on his existence. Why? Why is Mickey Mouse so important to us?

Easy… Mickey Mouse is synonymous with our happiest childhood memories, and one of the happiest places on earth: Disneyland and Walt Disney World. You cannot look at Mickey Mouse without feeling a wave of nostalgia wash over you. One of my fondest memories as a child was when I was kept home sick from school. I would lie in my parent’s big bed watching my Mickey Mouse cartoon tapes. It always made me feel a little better, and it is a tradition that is carried on in my house to this day. When the kids are feeling a bit under the weather, outcomes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Hot Dog!

Some fun facts about Mickey Mouse…

• Walt initially named Mickey Mouse “Mortimer,” until Walt’s wife, Lily, suggested “Mickey” was a better choice. Because women rule.

• For all the hopeless Disney romantics out there – did you know that the people who voiced Minnie and Mickey Mouse were married in real life? Wayne Allwine was the third person to give Mickey a voice and held the role from 1977 until his death in 2009. Allwine married Russi Taylor, the current voice of Minnie Mouse, in 1991. Taylor has been Minnie’s voice since 1986!

• Mickey Mouse was the first animated character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was given on his birthday (November 18) in 1978.

• Mickey Mouse was the first cartoon character to ever speak. And what were his first words? “Hot dogs!”

• Mickey Mouse only has four fingers! Walt Disney felt that five fingers resembled a “bunch of bananas.”

Mickey Mouse, without a doubt, deserves to be celebrated after 9-decades of bringing smiles to our faces. Mark the occasion with this limited edition dangle charm, crafted in sterling silver and detailed with his milestone number in 14k gold. Find yours in store, or online while stocks last!

You can win one of these special charms by following the steps in the Gleam widget below.

What an beautiful giveaway Maz! As much as I grew up with Mickey mouse and the gang, I think I only REALLY started watching when my daughter was born. So you can catch me shouting “Oh toodles!” at random parts of the day lol

  2. shelleylayle says:

I’m going to tell a very long story in the shortest way possible 🙂 My grandfather was the cornerstone of our entire family. He is the driving force that has propelled us into the people we are today. When I was very young, for an entire year, my grandfather played the toy vending machines (where you use the claw to catch a toy/teddy) to catch 13 teddies that he could give one to each of his grandchildren for Christmas. My teddy was a little mickey mouse. I don’t have the teddy any longer but mickey will also hold a special place in my heart not only because it reminds me of my late grandfather but because of the effort that someone put in to make another person happy and that why I’d love to be able to wear this charm on my bracelet. 🙂

  3. Susann says:

In the mornings, when we were still little, we would sit and eat breakfast watching cartoons. Minnie & Mickey with Pluto in tow would get up to all great adventures withthe likes of Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Goofy.. and who would forget the nemesis Pete?

  4. Elize Skriker says:

Oh mickey . This is something that I will cherish for a long time . Still to this day I watch Mickey with my two daughters

  5. Candice Vincent says:

I love Mivky Mouse. I remember when my cousins and I were young we would all rush home to get a front row seat to watch Mickey… really an icon!

My best mickey mouse memory is from when we were young parents still enjoyed the odd “Jol” – my little one was obsessed with Mickey Mouse clubhouse and the “Hot Dog” song became our theme song (Somehow). It landed up being so bad that everyone had it as their ringtone…. now whenever i hear it i think of my partner with that naughty smile on his face singing the hot dog song…. Of course my daughter loved it that we were all soooo into her show 🙂
Another great memory of Mickey is my moms charm bracelet – when i was younger i used to make up stories using all the different charms she had on her bracelet. She had goofy, mickey and minnie! Mickey and Minnie were obviously always in love and they were my absolute fave charms to play with. Somewhere along the line Mickey and Minnie ran off and eloped (i guess?) because their charms are no longer here but i still have lone ranger goofy so i would love to add this beautiful Mickey to my collection – it would just be super nostalgic for me.
#FingersCrossed to add this beauty to my collection 🙂

Mickey and Minnie Mouse, amongst otheres, were always such a big part of my childhood, early Saturday mornings sitting in front of the TV desperately waiting for the cartoons to start, begging your mom for that super cool Mickey Mouse graphic Tee. He is so little! Then he put on fun and fancy free and I saw how a little mouse could be so magical and I was hooked on all things Mickey and Disney even my grandads advice to
Me through the years where basically Mickey quotes I loved that even though I didn’t know it at the time I really thought man he has it all figured out and he did…his very last piece of advice to me was childhood is a world of miracle and magic…never grow up…not long after that I laid him to rest with his little Mickey Mouse that he had treasured all those years…if I won this it would forever remind me of my most beloved lost boy my granddad the man who instilled in me a love of Mickey Mouse so deep that it followed me into adulthood.
